How This Calculator Works
This calculator multiplies room dimensions for total area, adds waste percentage for cuts and mistakes, then divides by the box size to give you a purchase quantity.
Formula: Total Sq Ft = (Length × Width) × (1 + Waste%). Boxes = Total Sq Ft ÷ Sq Ft per Box (rounded up).
Assumptions & Limitations
- • 10% waste is standard for straight-lay patterns.
- • 15% waste recommended for diagonal or herringbone patterns.
- • Cost is material only — installation labor is additional.
