Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Home Budget Compass ("we", "us") collects when you use homebudgetcompass.com, which service providers handle it on our behalf, and how you can exercise your privacy rights. Our website itself does not run a database and does not store your personal information on our own servers.
Calculator Inputs
Everything you type into our calculators is processed entirely in your browser. It is never sent to us or stored.
Information We Collect and the Services That Process It
- Contact form — Formspree. When you send a message, your name, email address, subject, and message are delivered to us through Formspree, Inc., which stores the submission and forwards it to our inbox. We use it only to reply to you. See Formspree's privacy policy.
- Newsletter — MailerLite. If you subscribe, your email address (and signup date, IP address, and consent record) is stored by MailerLite, our email service provider. MailerLite sends a confirmation email first (double opt-in) and every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link. See MailerLite's privacy policy.
- Shop purchases — Lemon Squeezy. Our digital products are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the reseller and merchant of record. Checkout takes place on Lemon Squeezy's pages: it collects your name, email, billing details, and payment information, processes the payment, handles sales tax, and emails your download. We never see or store your full card details. We receive order details (name, email, product, amount) so we can provide support. See Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy.
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4. Only if you click "Accept" on our cookie banner, Google Analytics collects usage information such as pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location, and referring site. We use it in aggregate to improve the site.
- Display advertising. If ads are shown, they load only after you accept cookies. Ad networks (for example Google AdSense, Mediavine, or Raptive) may use cookies and device identifiers to show and measure ads.
- Affiliate links. Some links go to retailers or lenders (for example Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe's, LendingTree, or Credible) and are tracked by those companies or their affiliate networks so we can earn a commission. We do not share your personal information with them; anything you provide on their sites is covered by their policies.
- Contractor quote widgets. Some project calculators may include a form from a home-services lead network. Information you enter there goes directly to that network and the contractors it works with, under its own privacy policy, and they may contact you about your request.
- Hosting — Hostinger. Our web host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and reliability.
How We Use Information
- To reply to messages you send us.
- To send the newsletter you confirmed you want.
- To support your purchases (delivery, receipts, and refunds are handled by Lemon Squeezy).
- To understand aggregate site usage and improve our content (only with your consent).
We do not sell your personal information. Advertising cookies only load if you accept them, and you can decline.
Data Retention
Contact messages are kept for up to 2 years. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Order records are kept by Lemon Squeezy and by us as long as needed for tax and accounting obligations.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Delete your personal information.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or targeted advertising.
- Withdraw consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing or clearing your cookie choice.
How to Make a Privacy Request
Email privacy@homebudgetcompass.com with the subject line "Privacy Request". Please include:
- Your name and the email address you used with us (for example, to subscribe, contact us, or make a purchase).
- What you would like us to do: access, delete, correct, or opt out.
To protect your information, we may ask you to confirm the request from the same email address. We will respond within 30 days (or within 45 days where California law applies, and we will tell you if we need more time as the law allows). Once verified, we will act on the request ourselves and pass it on to the service providers listed above that hold your information, such as deleting your contact messages in Formspree, your subscriber record in MailerLite, or asking Lemon Squeezy to handle your order data. There is no charge for making a request, and we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights. You can also authorize someone to make a request for you.

Security
Our site is served over HTTPS. Our service providers use industry-standard security to protect the information they process.
International Transfers
Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, they rely on legal safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Children's Privacy
This site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
